There we go, day 4 - the day that brings us Þvörusleikir also known as Spoon-Licker in English. Now have a guess what he's up to. But how could you resent? Is there anything better than licking the spoon that you just used baking cookies? Probably not.
I'm always curious about what makes people read my blog. How do they get there? Is it because they see it on Facebook? Or do they search for something specific? These days I have a lot of page views because of the recipe for nougat cookies I posted two years ago.
So far I did not bake them but they are definitely on top of my to-do-list. I bought quite a few ingredients a couple of weeks ago in Germany as it will be very hard or nearly impossible to find them over here. Maybe you'll find them somewhere, I was told that Polish supermarkets offer a wide range. Anyway here is the recipe:
Nougat cookies
Ingredients:
200g "Nuss-Nougat" (it's like a solid version of Nutella)
300g flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
100g butter
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 pck vanilla sugar (or 1 tsp. vanilla extract)
1 egg
for the filling:
200g "Nuss-Nougat"
for decoration:
50g dark cooking chocolate
25g chopped pistachios
1. Dice the Nuss-Nougat into very small pieces. Mix flour and baking powder in a big bowl then add all other ingredients. Knead the dough at first softly and then with the highest power until evenly soft. Wrap it with cling film and place it in the fridge for about 30mins.
2. Place a sheet of baking paper on a baking tray and preheat the oven at 180° C (no fan).
3. For the filling dice the other "Nuss-Nougat" into 80 evenly sized pieces.
4. Divide the cold dough into 80 pieces and flatten them. Place a piece of "Nuss-Nougat" in the middle, fold it in and form a little ball. Place these balls on the baking tray and bake them for approx. 12mins. Then let them cool down.
5. Melt the cooking chocolate and sprinkle it over the cold cookies as well as the chopped pistachio.
I know these cookies are quite a huge work. But it's definitely worth it. Once you've tried them you become addicted especially to the semi melted nougat core. After all there has to be a reason why hundreds of people are looking for this special post from two years ago. And then of course, enjoy the spoon licking!
